Install guides
Which providers let you send mail
Two facts decide whether a host will work: whether outbound port 25 is open, and whether you can set reverse DNS. Everything else about the install is the same everywhere.
| Provider | Outbound port 25 | Reverse DNS |
|---|---|---|
| Hetzner | On request | Set in the Cloud Console on the server's IPv4 — Networking, then the reverse DNS entry. |
| DigitalOcean | On request | Derived from the **droplet's name** — set the droplet name to your mail hostname and the PTR follows automatically. |
| Vultr | On request | A proper reverse-DNS field in the panel, under the instance's IPv4 settings. |
| Linode | On request | Set per-IP under the Linode's Network tab. |
| OVH | Usually open | Set in the OVH control panel under the IP's reverse-DNS entry. |
Each page is dated and links to the provider’s own documentation. Policies change without anybody telling us — say so if one of these is out of date and we will check it and re-date the page.
