Terms of Service

The terms on which MailDock is licensed and sold, including the licence grant, renewal, cancellation and the limits of liability.

Last updated

These terms govern your purchase and use of MailDock. By buying a licence or installing the software you agree to them.

1. Who you are contracting with

MailDock is provided by Pristine Technology LLC, a Texas limited liability company, at 815 Brazos St, Ste 500, Austin, TX 78701-2509, USA (“we”, “us”). You may contact us through the contact form.

2. What you are buying

A licence to run the MailDock software on one server, for the period you have paid for. The licence is not a sale of the software and does not transfer any ownership in it. Your tier determines the maximum number of mailboxes and domains that server may hold; the tiers and their limits are on the pricing page.

You supply the server, the domain, the DNS and the operating environment. We supply the software and the updates published during your licence period.

3. What we do not do

We do not host your mail, hold your mailboxes, or act as a mail provider. Your mail is delivered to and stored on infrastructure you control. We have no access to it.

4. No trial

There is no free trial. A first annual licence is covered by the 30-day money-back guarantee in the Refund Policy.

5. Price, renewal and cancellation

Licences are billed annually in advance, per server. Prices are shown in USD and may be presented in your local currency; the amount charged is the amount shown at checkout. Taxes are not included unless stated at checkout.

A licence renews automatically at the then-current price for your tier unless you cancel. We will tell you before any price change affecting your renewal.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not revoke the licence you have already paid for, which runs to the end of its period.

6. What happens when a licence lapses

A lapsed licence enters a 30-day grace period during which everything continues to work. From version 0.13.0 the software then restricts itself in stages:

  • from day 30, the creation of new domains, mailboxes and sending tokens, AI features and the starting of migrations are blocked;
  • from day 60, the administration interface is read-only, except for security actions, licence management and backups;
  • from day 90, where the licence period has ended without renewal (including after a cancellation), sending mail to addresses outside your server is refused.

Receiving mail, reading it by IMAP, POP3 or webmail, and delivery between mailboxes on your server continue at every stage. A lapse caused only by the software being unable to reach our licence server, or by a licence key installed on another machine, never results in outgoing mail being refused. The software warns the server’s owners by email and in the administration interface as each stage approaches and when it begins, and renewal restores full operation as soon as the renewed licence key reaches the software. Earlier versions block only the creation of new domains and mailboxes. We will not disable, delete or withhold access to your mail under any circumstances.

Access to the private software registry — that is, to new versions — requires a current licence.

7. Moving a licence

A licence is bound to one server at a time. You may transfer it to another server yourself, without contacting us, as often as you need to.

8. Refunds

See the refund policy, which forms part of these terms.

9. Acceptable use

You may not use MailDock to send unsolicited bulk email, to operate a service that does so on behalf of others, or in breach of the law that applies to you. You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense or publish the software, or attempt to remove or defeat its licensing mechanism. Reselling mail services you operate using MailDock to your own customers is permitted and expected.

10. Third-party services

If you configure an AI provider, a migration source, or any other third-party service, your use of that service is governed by your agreement with that provider, not by these terms. We are not a party to it and do not receive your data through it. See Privacy & AI.

11. Warranty

The software is provided as is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we make no representation about the deliverability of any particular message — deliverability depends on your IP reputation, your DNS, your hosting provider and the receiving party, none of which we control.

Nothing here excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or in connection with these terms is limited to the amount you paid for the licence in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data, or any indirect or consequential loss.

You are responsible for backups. The software includes backup and restore tooling; running it is yours.

13. Changes

We may change these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will tell you before it applies to your licence, and the version in force for your current period is the one you agreed to.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Texas, USA, and the courts of Texas have exclusive jurisdiction.
