End User Licence Agreement

The licence grant for the MailDock software itself — what you may do with it, what you may not, and what happens when the licence ends.

Last updated

This agreement covers the software. The commercial relationship — price, renewal, refunds — is in the Terms of Service.

1. Grant

Subject to a current licence, Pristine Technology LLC grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and run one instance of the MailDock software on one server, for your own use or to provide mail services to your own customers.

“One server” means one operating-system instance. Running the same licence key on two servers at once is not permitted; moving it between servers is, and is self-service.

2. Scope of use

Within your tier’s limits you may:

  • run as many domains and mailboxes as the tier permits;
  • provide mail services to third parties (your customers, clients or employer) using that instance;
  • modify configuration, and integrate with the API and the CLI.

3. Restrictions

You may not:

  • distribute, publish, resell, sublicense or lease the software itself;
  • reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where that right cannot lawfully be restricted;
  • remove, disable, circumvent or tamper with the licensing mechanism, or misrepresent the licence status of an instance;
  • use it to send unsolicited bulk email or to operate a service whose purpose is to do so.

4. Ownership

The software, including all updates, is licensed and not sold. All intellectual property in it remains ours. Your configuration, your mail and your data remain entirely yours; we have no rights over them and no access to them.

5. Open-source components

MailDock incorporates open-source components, including Postfix, Dovecot and Rspamd, each licensed under its own terms. Nothing in this agreement restricts your rights under those licences. A complete list of components and licences is available on request through the contact form.

6. Updates

A current licence entitles you to the versions published during its period, and to pull them from the software registry. Nothing obliges us to release a particular feature or on a particular date; the roadmap is a statement of intent, not a commitment.

7. Termination

This licence ends if you materially breach it and do not remedy the breach within 30 days of being told, or when your licence period ends without renewal.

When it ends, the software does not stop receiving mail. After the 30-day grace period the instance restricts itself in stages, as the Terms of Service (section 6) set out: from version 0.13.0, creating new domains and mailboxes, AI features and new migrations are blocked first, the administration interface then becomes read-only, and from day 90, where the licence period has ended without renewal, sending mail to addresses outside the server is refused. Receiving mail, reading it, and delivery between the instance’s own mailboxes continue at every stage. This is deliberate and is not a defect. You remain responsible for the instance and for migrating away if you choose to.

8. No warranty

The software is provided as is. See the Terms of Service for warranty and liability, which apply to this agreement equally.
